Welcome to Mile 101: Western Base of Eagle Summit
Mile 101 (commonly referred to simply as 101) is a historic location and seasonal checkpoint on the Steese Highway in the Interior region of Alaska. Situated at Mile 101 of the highway (101 miles northeast of Fairbanks), it sits at the western base of Eagle Summit within the White Mountains. While not a permanent town, it is a critical geographic marker for travelers, miners, and long-distance sled dog racers.Â
