Welcome to Central: 130 Years of Mining Culture
Central is a census-designated place (CDP) in the Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area of the U.S. state of Alaska. Located 128 miles (206 km) northeast of Fairbanks at the junction of the Steese Highway and Circle Hot Springs Road, it serves as a historic and modern hub for the Circle Mining District. Known for its rugged independence and deep-rooted mining culture, Central is one of the few remaining "living" gold rush towns in the Alaskan Interior.Â
